A man is in hospital after his girlfriend threw boiling water on him on Saturday morning in Payneville.
Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the man arrived at his girlfriend’s house just after 7am.
When the girlfriend asked what he was doing there, the victim told her he was there to fetch his socks.

The victim then went to the bedroom and while he was looking for his socks, the girlfriend came and threw boiling water on him.
The man, who was injured from the boiling water then got into his car and drove to Far East Rand Hospital, where he remains.
The police are still searching for the girlfriend and a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm has been opened.
