Road safety highlighted as concerned residents paint roads
The team was also joined by learners from Endicott Primary School and Hoërskool Hugenote.
AfriForum, in partnership with the Vischkuil Neighborhood Watch, painted road markings around Endicott in an effort to make the road safer for learners.
Marnelle Human, one of the organisers, says her concern for the learners was heightened when a girl was ran over by a car on Ermelo Road a few weeks ago.
“When the roads are unmarked, the drivers do not even see a zebra crossing.
“That puts the children’s lives in danger every time they walk to school.”

“We wanted to involve the learners so that they can appreciate and learn from the experience.
“We did not just paint but we picked up litter, just so that the whole area looks good,” adds Roben Collen.
Principal Kuki Mnisi says the exercise will help to bring the community together.

The team says the marking paints were donated by Lesedi Municipality.
They have a few more community projects lined up.
