Edelweiss community forms a committee
In total, seven members volunteered to be part of the committee and Sean Wallace was elected chairperson of the committee.
Members of the Springs community gathered at the Edelweiss Engen Garage on Wednesday evening with the aim of establishing a committee for the community.
Residents believe that by forming a committee they will be able to better formulate questions to put to council about the problems their community faces.
According to resident Stanley Harris, the community battles to get ward councillors to listen to their complaints and rarely present them with solutions.

Their primary concern involves the upcoming construction of Megacity in Edelweiss.
Members of the community are concerned about the pressure that this new project will put on infrastructure, especially sewage and roads.
They also feel the contractors are not communicating with community.
“We want to know what the use is of just building flats in the Megacity when unemployment is such a big problem.
“They should build factories and businesses so that people can be employed,” says member of the community Stanley Harris.
Chairperson of AfriForum Springs Cornel Swart was also present at the meeting and said the state of the Blesbokspruit should be one of the primary concerns of the committee.

In total, seven members volunteered to be part of the committee and Sean Wallace was elected chairperson of the committee.
Wallace says, “I am happy with the outcome.
“It is now just a question of setting up the committee and formulating the right questions to present to council.”
