
Last Thursday the Environmental Health Department, in partnership with the Springs police, held a joint operation to inspect the shops in Geduld and the Springs CBD.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says they found expired goods in a few of the shops.

Theses goods at the shops in Geduld were confiscated and the owners were fined R5 000.
Additionally, the one shop in Geduld was found to be in possession of sweets from a hijacked truck in Bedfordview.
The police moved on to Daggafontein, where they arrested two men and a woman for illegal mining.

They confiscated the equipment found on site, which included a generator.
The trio was charged with illegal mining.
