Metro intensifies means to get rid of service delivery backlog

Early this month, Rua-Con Waste Management vehicles were spotted with workers collecting rubbish.

Springs residents and businesses have expressed much concern about the inconsistent refuse collection. The metro has committed to attending to the backlog.

Early this month, Rua-Con Waste Management vehicles were spotted with workers collecting rubbish.

This is after rubbish started to pile up again on street corners.

The metro has since confirmed that the company is one of those that will assist it to keep the streets clean.

Nhlanhla Cebekhulu, divisional head of communication and media relations, says, “The waste management department has identified the need to address the issue of constant shortages of resources.

“A tender was advertised for the hiring of specialised vehicles as and when required.

“The tender was awarded to various companies in December 2019.”

The metro also says that the contract will run until June 30, 2022.
