Two suspects have been arrested after they attempted to defraud a Strubenvale-based company on Thursday afternoon.
Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the pair arrived at the company, claiming to be from another company which they claimed had ordered steel worth R80 000 and were there to pick it up.
The pair then left the truck at the company while they waited for their order to be loaded.

In the meantime, the Strubenvale business phoned the company the suspects claimed they were from to ask about the order.
The Strubenvale business found that the company in question had not made an order and were not expecting anything.
The police were called. They arrested the suspects as they arrived to collect the truck.

“We are warning companies to be careful and appealing with them to verify any information they might get,” says Ramphora.
The police say they are still investigating who the truck belongs to and how the suspects came to be using it.
The suspects will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon, on charges of fraud.
