Toys make for a more friendly environment

“We partnered with the Lego Foundation, who provided us with these sets.”

Members of the Rotary Club of Springs Park and Springs Child Welfare donated Lego sets to the magistrate’s court on Wednesday morning.

The toys will be kept in the children’s court to make it a more child-friendly environment and provide the children with some distraction from the upsetting environment.

Member of the Rotary Club of Springs Park Ettienne Terblanche says: “As Rotarians, we want to see where there is a need, and we try our best to help.

Various companies have provided the children’s court with soft toys, pouf cushions and a television and a DVD player over the years.

The inside walls were also painted with images of butterflies and bees to create a relaxing atmosphere similar to a playroom.

The Lego sets are apparently worth more than R150 000 and includes large sets from Justice League and smaller sets from Lego Movie.

The children were keen to inspect the new toys and were soon playing with the Lego sets.

The court also provides a baby area where mothers can feed their babies and change their diapers in private.
