New buses added to the city’s fleet

Metro to launch new buses in Ekurhuleni in a project worth millions

The new buses, manufactured to conform to the modern world environmental standards, will provide additional capacity to the Harambee buses that are serving the Thembisa and OR Tambo International Airport route.

Furthermore, they will cover the entire city, including parts of Johannesburg like Sunnyridge, Randburg, Cresta, and Rivonia.

City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe explained an amount of R60-million has been spent in the acquisition of the buses, and they will replace the city’s aging bus fleet.

The procurement of the additional 21 buses is in line with the city’s goal to invest in public transport to transform the townships’ accessibility and economy.
