Flamingos return to Blesbokspruit

Blesbokspruit welcomes return of flamingos once again

Nature lovers and birdwatchers can spot flamingos in Springs.

The flamingos can be seen on the D’Arrigo land in Casseldale.

According to land owner Franco D’Arrigo, the birds haven’t been seen in the area for 12 years.

He believes its no accident the flamingos have returned.

“We’ve been working on awareness with the nearby communities, especially those upstream, about not pouring chemicals or throwing rubbish into the water.

The brids are a welcome sight after a 12-year absence. Pictures by Franco D’Arrigo.

“The water eventually flows into the Blesbokspruit.

“It’s not just the flamingos that are back, the fish are too, and its great to see,” said D’Arrigo.
