Stellar performance from the Veritas College Class of 2020

The 39 matric learners at Veritas College achieved 49 distinctions between them.

The 39 learners that make up the class of 2020 matrics at Veritas College can be very proud of their performance.
The learners achieved 49 distinctions between them and the school achieved a 99 per cent pass rate, with one learner still to submit their exams for a remark.
Judy Achary, acting head of the senior school, said they are proud of their learners.
“Well done Class of 2020 on coping with the challenges of Covid-19.
“While matric is the final chapter in the epic story of school education, it is only the beginning of exciting new adventures.
“We thank every one of our dedicated staff members, from our pre-preparatory, preparatory and senior school phases, for their commitment and passion with which they approach each day, and for always inspiring our learners to be the heroes of their own stories.
“Teachers, you are magnificent for showing such commitment to your learners and expertise in your subject.
“I would also like to thank all our parents and families for their endless support in ensuring that our learners reach their full potential,” said Achary.

The school’s top achiever is Catia Breedt, who achieved seven distinctions (including A+ symbols for two subjects), an average of 87 per cent and is in the top one per cent of the country’s learners for life orientation.
Other top students were:
Gemma Rees achieved six distinctions (including an A+ symbol), an average of 82 per cent and is in the top one per cent of the country’s learners for life orientation.
Calvin Ryan achieved five distinctions (including an A+ symbol), an average of 83 per cent and is in the top one per cent of the country’s learners for life orientation.
Chiara Amos achieved five distinctions (including an A+ symbol), an average of 81 per cent and is in the top one per cent of the country’s learners for life orientation.
Jonathan Visagie achieved three distinctions (including an A+ symbol) and an average of 70 per cent.

Learners Theto Makhola, Phemelo Masilo, Nqobile Mbatha, Xolani Namo, Thabo Ntsepe and Nikishka Thandrand each received two distinctions.
Erin Botha, Matthew Bourbon, Mbali Dhlamini, Dane Forrester, Atlehang Ledwaba, Phumelele Madonsela, Ntando Mahlangu, Zinhle Msomi, Demitra Raouna, Joshua Sibiya and Nelisiwe Thembekwayo each obtained one distinction.
