Man assaulted in Payneville

The victim sustained serious injuries to his head and body.

A foreign national accused of being a drug dealer was assaulted by community members in Payneville on Thursday morning.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said when police arrived on Shaka Street, they found the victim lying in the street with serious injuries to his head and body, with his hands and legs tied together with shoelaces.

Community members accused the victim of selling drugs and some drugs were found on the ground by the police.
The victim’s car, a beige Kia Optima, was also damaged.
The man was taken for medical treatment at the Far East Rand Hospital via ambulance.
A case of assault GBH and malicious damage to property was opened at the Springs Police Station.
