Residents encouraged to make use of social services

Residents are encouraged to visit any social worker’s office at their nearest customer care centre.

Ekurhuleni MMC for health and social services Nomadlozi Nkosi has called on residents of the City to enquire about the social work packages available to aid the vulnerable members of the community.
“Ekurhuleni residents should not suffer in silence or resort to using of any underhand healthcare service that might be harmful.
“The City has a fully functional social services package that includes a poverty alleviation and indigent programme.
“Our doors are open at every customer care centre (CCC) with a dedicated team of social workers and health professionals who are there to assist residents,” said Nkosi.

Some of the available social services to aid residents include:
• Referral of qualifying clients to the indigent management programme to access free electricity, water and municipal services for social relief.
• A food security programme through the Food Bank and Homestead Garden Project.
• Facilitation of applications for Grant-in-Aid funding to uplift and develop co-operatives and NPOs.
Residents are encouraged to visit any social worker’s office at their nearest CCC.
After their interview with a professional social worker, they will be linked to the relevant packages based on their needs.
