A large informal dumpsite in Geduld has become a cause of frustration for residents in the area.
The site is on Sarel Cilliers Road adjacent to the Rus ‘n Bietjie Retirement Home.
There is a small dam of water where piles of refuse have been dumped next to a felled willow tree.

“It is such an eyesore and I don’t know why it has been ignored for so long.
“People walk there and they are disgusted by what they see.
“Residents have cleaned up parks all over this town and the metro just ignores problems like this.
“I have phoned the metro many times, but they just give me a reference number and nothing else gets done,” said resident Ida Erasmus.

Erasmus is also worried that the site poses a potential health hazard.
