Mngomezelu hopes to make a difference at his school.
What process did you go through to achieve this position?

What extra responsibilities do you have now as a head boy?
I make sure that the other learners are behaving themselves and not breaking any of the rules.
It’s also my job to monitor the classes when the teachers leave.
Are there any sacrifices you have to make to fulfil your position as a head boy?
Not anything that I can think of right now.
I was elected only last week so I guess I’ll still have to see as time goes on.

How did your friends and family react when they learned you were elected as a head boy?
They were all very happy for me, especially my parents.
Some of my friends expected me to become elected so they weren’t very surprised at the news but are still very supportive of me.
Do you think your grades will be affected?
No, I don’t think so.
I’ve always worked hard to make sure my grades are the best they can be.
Has the position changed the way you talk with your friends?
Not really. Some of my friends tease me a bit about it and make fun of me, which is interesting.
