The Springs Art Gallery is hosting a group exhibition that will run until Monday.
“This group show features combined art and photography work that resulted from the youth development mentoring and learning workshop series.
“The 69 artists each have one piece on the wall,” explained Thabo Sekoaila, curator visual arts for the City of Ekurhuleni.
The group exhibition was launched on May 22.
The different groups of young people were mentored by Sam Nhlengethwa in workshops setups in different areas run by Thumbela Fine Arts.

“The community needs to be more intentional about consuming art. Art is everywhere.
“It is in how we look and how we choose to dress.
“Even the shows we watch on TV are a different form of art.
“I believe that all of us are artists.
“It is a gift that just needs to be nurtured and refined,” he added.
Sekoaila said the young people featured in the exhibition have shown great talent.
“Some of them are only teenagers, but they were able to produce such work,” he stated.
The exhibition is officially curated by Fulufhelo Mobadi.

On Saturday, the venue will host a curatorial tour of the exhibition for the public to meet the curator, mentors and artists talking about their collaborative experience.
The walkabout will start at 9am.
“I would encourage parents to bring their children who show an interest in art.
“They will be exposed to all the different kinds.
“They will also have an opportunity to ask questions and understand how the pieces came about,” said Sekoaila.
