Semi-finalist of Empress South Africa 2022 Wendy Kakole is ready to make an impact on the lives of the youth.
“Empress South Africa is the first and largest online-based beauty contest in the world.
“It is a platform to empower young women to develop themselves by doing activities that will have a positive impact in communities,” explained Kakole.
The Springs resident has made it through the first level of the contest, standing out from the hundreds of applicants from around the country.
The concept was launched four years ago as Miss Eagle South Africa.
“We are given various tasks to complete online.
“These activities are geared around us receiving points to progress in the contest, build a personal brand, develop and grow ourselves into leadership, which is part of our Youth Empowerment and Woman Empowerment objectives,” she explained.
The semi-finalist said that seeing young people roam the streets without purpose breaks her heart.
“We need to get to a point where even someone who dropped out of school can still have hope for a better life. If there are no opportunities available to us then we have to create them for ourselves,” she said.
Kalole has worked with a few NPOs that help young people to start small businesses, such as clothing brands.
“So many people have great ideas, they just lack support to see those through. I plan to use my influence, especially if I win the contest, to help them get all the resources they need to succeed in business.
“My goal now is to be one of the eagles that will make it through to the final level,” she added.
