Far East Rand Hospital to launch ‘I Serve with A Smile’ campaign
“Management believe the recipe to ensuring happy patients is appraisal of staff, ensuring a conducive working environment and the availability of tools of the trade.”
Far East Rand Hospital is launching an awareness drive called the I Serve with a Smile campaign.
The Employee Value Proposition and I Serve with Smile teams joined the hospital management who have been warmly welcoming staff in the hospital main entrance.
Phumza Ntuthuka from the Far Rand East Hospital said they greeted staff and later visited work stations with one message of appreciating their dedication, encouraging them to serve the public with dignity, honesty, and excellence at all times.
“Pamphlets and posters with educational information are distributed from January 21 and every single Friday. We have seen teams lead by the CEO, Sonwabo Lindani, and the members of the executive visiting all the departments within the institution to educate staff members on this initiative.

“This initiative is for all the staff members including the security personnel as they are the first point of contact into the institution. Talking to staff members during the visits, the CEO said the initiative is not only for the organising committee or hospital executives but is for every staff member in the facility,” said Ntuthuka
Lindani said this paradigm shift drive and a new culture will only be a success if they do it together for the benefit of the community that they serve.
He emphasised the importance of showing a smile to the patients that they serve and may have positive effects on their patients and visitors.

“Management believes the recipe to ensuring happy patients is an appraisal of staff, ensuring a conducive working environment and the availability of tools of the trade,” said Lindani.
He continued to mention that one of his goals at the hospital is to revive the Excellence Awards, which will boost the morale of the staff.
One of the staff members, who is also the chairperson of the EVP in the institution, Aron Madonsela applauded this initiative. He also believes that this is an initiative that the staff members have been waiting for.
“It is not a secret that the staff morale was very down at Far East Rand Hospital, but such initiatives will help staff members feel included and cared for by the current executive,” said Madonsela.
The initiative is scheduled to be officially launched in early March.
