Community support will help Hope and Halos feed more families

“We try our best to reach out to the communities to see where the need is. We mostly get referrals,” she said.

Charity organisation Hopes and Halos hosted their first Charity Golf Day on March 25 at the Pollak Park Golf Club and received an amazing response.
Louise Mawhinney from the organisation expressed gratitude to community members who supported the initiative.
“Our purpose is to raise money and buy food. We want to feed families with food parcels that cost us around R300,” she said.

She said they try to make all the food parcels they donate cost-effective. They also try to ensure the parcels cover meals for a few days.
“We try our best to reach out to the communities to see where the need is. We mostly get referrals,” she said.
Mawhinney said many families have been under pressure since lockdown.
“Some lost their jobs and could not feed their families. We, as an organisation, have come forward to show we are there for them and are not planning to stop helping out any time soon,” she said.
