Operation Paseka yields positive results

Law enforcement were out in full force ahead of the holidays.

Members of the SAPS in Ekurhuleni and other law enforcement agencies conducted Operation Paseka in Springs and Kempton Park on Thursday.
Those who acted on the other side of the law spent their Easter holidays behind bars.

“Sixteen suspects were nabbed for being illegal immigrants, 13 for possession of drugs, four J534 fines were issued and 63 traffic fines were issued to those who contravened the Road Traffic Act,” said Capt Neldah Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni District communications officer.

Officers seized 28g of dagga, crystal meth and nyaope.
Awareness was also raised about issues such as drug abuse, human trafficking, smash-and-grabs, theft out of motor vehicles and gender-based violence.
