FERH honours female staff

Far East Rand Hospital held an event for staff to wrap up Women’s Month on Thursday.
The atmosphere at the Anna Schoeman Hall was jovial as the women, dressed in black and a doek, danced and sang.

Dr Nonjabula Jwaga commended the women for the strength they display daily in their work.
“As women, we are innately brave and strong. You do not need to be told to stand your ground,” said Jwaga.
She encouraged the women present to be careful of where they draw their strength.
“Some people draw strength from money and others depend on other people. The most consistent and trusted source of strength is God the creator. Stay on that foundation and you will never run out of strength,” she added.
She also thanked their male colleagues who were present to support them.

The hospital’s CEO Sonwabo Lindani said the women of the Far East Rand Hospital deserve to be celebrated for the hard work they put into their duties.

“This is something that needs to continue 365 days. We need to be deliberate as men to take responsibility against the scourge of GBV. Women deserve to be here and to enjoy being alive,” he added.
Lindani said the executive decision on the event was so that the female staff of the hospital can feel loved and cared for.
“Keep up the good work. Women are dominant in the health care industry and that should include leadership,” he said.
