Gold One hosts career guidance day
The event was aimed at equipping learners from Grade Nine to 11 with information about different careers and how to pursue them.
Gold One Modder East Operation together with its partners held a career guidance day at Kingsway Secondary School.
The event was aimed at equipping learners from Grade Nine to 11 with information about different careers and how to pursue them.

“We were intentional to respect the guidance issued by the Department of Basic Education member of executive council in Gauteng, MEC Panyaza Lesufi. He said that Grade 12 learners across the province must not be disturbed after the end of term one.
“This directive and guidance are aimed at ensuring that Grade 12 learners are given adequate time to focus on their studies without distraction.
“As such Grade 12 learners were excluded from the career mapping session,” explained Chris Nchabeleng, the company’s communications officer.

The sessions were attended by various institutions that exhibited their further learning opportunities within tertiary institutions as well as those catering for occupational skills and trades.
In the main space, exhibitors were training providers for trade skills and universities.
“Parallel to this event and going forward, New Kleinfontein Goldmine is also engaging Gauteng Department of Basic Education at the district level to explore collaboration opportunities in running awareness campaigns aimed at drastically reducing teenage pregnancy,” added Nchabeleng.
Learners from Springs, Jameson and Eureka Secondary schools were also invited to the event.
