Yongama and Sinelitha make the junior Springbok women’s team

These two phenomenal women have called Springs home for years and now they make the town proud.

They may not reside in Springs anymore, but their dreams started here and so their hearts will always be with the town.
Yongama Delinkosi (20) and Sinelitha Noxeke (20) have qualified for the junior Springbok women’s team.
This has been a dream for the young women ever since they started playing rugby.
The Springs Advertiser sat down with them and asked about their experience.

Yongama Delinkosi.

How does it feel to be drafted into a national team?
Sinelitha – “It feels so good, at the same time I was scared but excited though. I was waiting for the call because I’ve been working so hard so I can be noticed. I also knew what I wanted in my life since I started playing the game.”
Yongama – “Sinelitha is right, it is very exciting but scary. I could not believe it when they called to tell me I made the team.”
How long have you been playing rugby?
Sinelitha – “I started playing rugby in 2016. So I have been playing for six years.”
Yongama – “I have been playing for seven years.”

What are your goals and aspirations now that you are one step ahead into your dreams?
Sinelitha – “My aspirations are to see myself playing for the senior Springbok team and my dreams are to play for one of the clubs overseas.”
Yongama – “My dream is to become a qualified coach and to inspire young girls to play sports.”
Are there any words of advice you would like to impart on young girls who would like to follow in your footsteps?
Sinelitha – “There are ups and downs in life but never give up anything you wish to be. There will be times you want to let go but never fail your dream that you promised yourself. My mother used to say cry as hard as you want but make sure when you stop crying, you never cry for the same reason again. So to young women in sports, life is like a practice session, when you ‘fail’, you can get up and immediately begin practicing again till you reach your goals. Just stay focused.”
Yongama – “I would like to say to young girls keep on chasing your dreams, there is light at the end of every tunnel.”
