
A foreign national was nabbed on Monday after he was found in possession of copper cables.
On Sunday night, a security guard on duty in Eastvale reported hearing a loud bang.
“Upon investigation, she noticed that the power at a nearby substation had tripped. It was later discovered that a cable had been cut and stolen,” explained Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, communications officer of the Springs SAPS.

The Ekurhuleni Essential Infrastructure Task Team then investigated the incident.
“On Monday the task team traced and arrested the man. He was found with the suspected stolen copper cables to the value of about R50 000,” added Tshabalala.
The man will appear before the Springs Magistrate’s Court on charges of criminal possession of the suspected stolen property and tampering with essential infrastructure.
