Animal cruelty cased postponed again
The case against an illegal breeder in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on March 22 was postponed to April 17.

The case against a breeder in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on March 22 was postponed to April 17.
The Springs SPCA was alerted to animal cruelty by a local breeder last August.
They started legal proceedings after an investigation confirmed the facts under the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962.
The animals were seized and are in the custody of the Springs SPCA pending the court’s judgement.
Because of the nature of the case, the SPCA can’t divulge much information, but they are happy to discuss the welfare of all animals to prevent future incidents like this from happening.
The first sitting for the year was on February 21, but it was postponed to March 1.
The breeder was confirmed to have found legal representation, so the SPCA is confident the legal proceedings will proceed.
