Springs Bowling Club celebrates 100 years

The club has been running since the year 1923.

The Springs Bowling Club celebrated its 100th year on Saturday.

It was a rather wet Saturday morning when Izak Hattingh and Quinton Gouws conducted the official opening for the centenary function.

It was a well-attended event despite the rains and the cold weather.

The function was attended by various other bowling clubs including Benoni Town, Brackenhurst, Benoni Lake, Delville, Kleinfontein and Boksburg.

The mood was jovial as old friends got together to celebrate the club’s birthday.

Various games were played between the clubs and later they enjoyed a speech by the club’s present Izak Hattingh.

The event was also visited by Alana Warrender who is the president of Ekurhuleni Bowls.

“We appreciate that such an important official came from Germiston to celebrate with us. She also represents Delville Bowling Club,” says Tokkie Hattingh.

Those in attendance were treated to some cake to end the special day.
