Koppies are in autumn splendour

Melville Koppies is good place to visit.

These cool autumn evenings and mornings are reminding us that winter is on its way.

Although most indigenous trees on Melville Koppies don’t turn the beautiful autumn oranges and reds of liquid ambers or plane trees, the quartzite rocks and wild grasses give the Koppies its own autumn tinge.

And if you climb to the top of the ridges, you’ll see the trees of Joburg’s man-made forest showing their autumn colours.

It’s the perfect temperature for hiking. Do the 5km hike, the 3km self-guided heritage trail or book a guided walk for 8am or you can just amble around at your own pace on the many paths.
