Dealing with stress in a fun and social way
Stress management needs to be implemented in order to live healthier lives.
Social worker and founder of Beautiful Mind Space Stress Management Coaching, Tsogang Mbonani, along with other women, decided to host an event that sought to address stress management in a fun and social way.
“We aim not to only target women but the Springs community at large. Chronic stress is a trigger to a lot of our mental health challenges,” says Mbonani.
She encouraged those who attended to be proactive and to identify stress triggers.

Promise Khumalo, who is a counsellor who specialises in trauma and psycho-social wellness, said many people do not ask for help.
“There’s nothing wrong with needing help. If you feel like you need assistance, never be ashamed to get it,” said Khumalo.
Kholo Mogale, who is a health and wellness coach, emphasised the need for healthy eating and living.

She dealt with self-awareness and being able to relate to oneself outside what society expects from us.
“We need to work on being an individual outside of the titles that we collect through life like mother and wife.
Such titles can, unfortunately, be taken away from us. We fall too much into the trap of societal expectations.
“Are you leading a life because of your choice or because social media has dictated the way you must lead your life?” asked Mogale.
She gave the women tips on how to eat healthier without breaking their purses and without changing their lifestyles too much.
“Being healthy is more than eating right and going to the gym – it’s a holistic approach. Stress itself is mainly the reason people aren’t living the lives they should be,” she advises.
The activities for the day included a round of Pilates by local instructor Berza Crawford, who provided yoga stretches to help the body release built-up tension.

The women also attended a music therapy session by Annalete Prinsloo.
They learnt to express their emotions using sound and how to ground themselves using music and guided imagery exercises.
Mbonani said the next event is in August.
