Parklands Hospital tackles GBV for Mandela Day

The hospital decided to honour their staff during Mandela Day and bring awareness to GBV.

The staff at Life Springs Parklands Hospital dedicated their 67 minutes for Mandela Day with a spin.
They dressed up as superheroes and honoured the day by spreading awareness around a dire cause.
“We used the day as a platform to not only honour the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela but also raise awareness of the dire gender-based violence (GBV) issue in the country,” said Elmien Barnard, the marketing and communications coordinator.
The staff could participate in the Mandela Day walk around the hospital and had fun dressing up as superheroes.

“Each of our Life facilities made a donation entry fee, with the proceeds pooled to support our GBV initiative planned for later this year.
“Our hospital employees also brought clothing we will donate to one of the local NPOs.”
Barnard thanked everyone for their contribution towards making a better world.
“We thank our employees for making up 67 minutes’ worth of steps while walking for a worthy cause,” she said.
The two winners of the best-dressed competition were Mary Setati and Nicole Baloi from Fedics, working in the kitchen.
