KWF Springs brings medals home

Local karate club KWF Springs recently participated in the Interclub Championship and won 49 medals.

Local karate club KWF Springs competed in the Interclub Championship at the Brakpan Indoor Centre on October 14.

Twenty-nine karatekas competed in the championship open to martial arts practitioners of all ages and belt grades.

Sensei Fanie du Plessis said they were proud and happy with the results the karatekas received.

The results are as follows:

Eight gold medals, five silvers, and 12 bronzes in the kata division.

The kihon ippon kumite division had four gold medals, four silvers, and nine bronzes.

The kumite division had two gold medals, four silvers, and one bronze.

Du Plessis thanked sensei Chris Anthony for inviting the club to participate in the championship.
