Crowds rock to chamber’s rhythm

Rhythm by the River is the second major event hosted by the chamber, following their annual golf day.

Beautiful weather blanketed the plot as the Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its recent Rhythm by the River event.

The initiative, part of this year’s fundraising events for the chamber, welcomed residents from over the East Rand joining the festivities. Barbara-Ann Day, manager of the chamber, said the event was successful.

“We had a tremendously positive response.”

The crowd was serenaded by the music of Dewald Dippenaar, an Afrikaans artist.

Children were occupied by the jumping castles, swimming, ice cream and a candy floss machine, set up purely for their enjoyment.

Barbara-Ann says the emphasis of the day was fun with a warm atmosphere.

“The wonderful weather and spacious garden allowed people to come as friends and family, providing the perfect family day.”

She adds how everyone had fun at the event.

“Everyone raved about the event and some even jokingly asked if they could purchase tickets for the next one.”

There were various age groups, ranging from babies to the elderly. They set up braai facilities where the people could braai their meat.

Bob Gilles, a well-known Springsite, brought his parents-in-law, who are in their 90s, to the event.

“It was a lovely family day,” he said.
