Dance Directions with Mariska dancer Mieke Weyers (7) recently made it to the top level in the South African Championships of Performing Arts (Sacopa).

Sacopa is an official national competition for both novice and experienced performers and includes acting, dance, instrumentals, modelling, variety acts, and vocals, among others.

Mieke attained gold for hip-hop and Bollywood. She also won silver for jazz and in the open (disco) division.

For her achievement, Mieke received a special invitation to participate in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, California, set to take place next year in July.

Dance instructor Mariska Wolmarans said she was proud of Mieke’s hard work, citing that she must keep up the good work and keep on dancing.

“Keep believing in yourself and working hard; more achievements are yet to come,” said Mariska.

Expressing pride in her daughter, Michelle Weyers added that her daughter has shown enthusiasm for dancing and has been dedicated to giving it her all from a young age.

“I’m so proud of Mieke, and I’m grateful to Wolmarans for seeing the potential in my daughter’s passion for dancing,” said Weyers.
