New learners are encouraged to dream big

Schools saw a flurry of activity when they welcomed new faces.

Schools opened their gates to old and new learners on January 17.

The buildings were filled with nervous smiles and chatter as new Grade Ones made it to their classrooms.

Not to be outdone, the new Grade Rs looked dapper and quickly made friends with each other. The principal of Laerskool Werda, Jaco Lombard, gave words of motivation to his new learners.

“If I could tell my learners anything that would motivate them, it is to study and never give up.”

He says children no longer dream of good things for themselves because they are demotivated by what is happening in the world.

“Our children don’t dream anymore, and it is scary. What is the point if you don’t look forward to the future?”

The educator at Platinum Private School, Nkosana Radebe, says he wants the children to be focused this year.

“This year, we will encourage having fun with education.”

Rainbow Education Centre left the children with parting words to love deeply and go with God.
