Ekurhuleni business sector engages on IDP and budget

The business sector made inputs on the state of the CoE and planned a way forward.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) met with the business sector to present and discuss the reviewed draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) for the municipality in Germiston on Thursday.

They discussed the reviewed IDP for 2024/25 and the multiyear budget for 2024/25 to 2026/27.

The business sector could make inputs into the current state of the city and plan a way forward.

Head of CoE strategy and corporate planning, Tsholofelo Koopedi, in presenting the draft IDP and budget, highlighted the business sector is the spine that helps keep the city afloat.

“As the greatest contributors to the city’s economy and drivers of job creation, your inputs are very important in moving our city forward,” Koopedi said.

The city’s guests welcomed plans to seek alternative energy as this will help stabilise the grid while boosting production.

“Without a stable and predictable power supply, production suffers. Therefore, employment opportunities cannot be created, which is the key objective we discussed today.

“I request that the city intensify its plans to address the energy supply interruptions speedily,” said Andrew Woods from Premier Fast Moving Goods.

Representatives from various industries requested the city return to the negotiation table with Eskom to take back control of load-shedding and look into energy curtailment so that production is not affected.

The presentation and draft IDP and budget documents are available to view on the city’s website at www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/idp/
