Water leak plagues residents of Wanderer Road

Residents are sharing their frustrations and plights regarding poor service delivery in their areas.

As elections draw closer, the Springs Advertiser has taken the onus to write the stories, good and bad, to aid the residents of Springs in making better voting decisions.

Concerned resident Marcelle Finke has expressed his frustrations at the water leak that has been plaguing him and his neighbours in Wanderer Road, Selcourt.

“The leak has been going on for quite a while and nobody wants to fix it.”

Finke says the few times employees would be on site was to take photos of the situation and then leave.

“Soon after they have taken their pictures, I receive an SMS saying the case has been closed. It seems they tend to send out the wrong people to investigate.”

Finke is concerned as it is clean water going to waste.

“The water leak doesn’t flow into the stormwater drain but disappears into the curb. I am dreading that a sinkhole will form there.”

The continuously flowing river has allegedly started to lift the tar from the road. Over recent weeks, he has been reporting the matter.

“In some instances, they said it’s a meter issue and I can say for sure it is not. They even refer to me by a name that is not my own and that is also frustrating as I don’t know the person whom they are talking to.”

The Advertiser submitted an enquiry regarding the matter and also requested feedback between April 23 and May 3 but no solution has been given.

“Kindly note that your email has been forwarded to the relevant department,” reads the email that was received on May 3.
