Pickleball is coming to town
The Selection Park Tennis Club is introducing pickleball to the community, with full action set to begin in March next year.
The Selection Park Tennis Club is bringing pickleball to Springs.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, using a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.
Scott Wiggle from the club said it is a fun sport that they want to grow in the community.
“It is the fastest growing sport internationally and is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels,” said Scott.
Scott added they also aim to uplift the tennis club within the Springs community.
“We want our community to be a part of the action as we expand our offerings by bringing this vibrant sport to our town.”
They started a fundraising initiative for a substantial club upgrade, including pickleball courts with lighting and spectator stands and resurfacing three of its existing tennis courts.
“On two of the courts, we add pickle boards and accommodating junior tennis,” he said
“We are seeking ways to fundraise to make this project a success and request our community to help us.”
The club aims to complete its fundraising efforts over the next six months in preparation for launching pickleball in March next year.
