Springs Police investigate claims of baby’s burial

Police have opened an inquiry after a man claimed that a baby's remains were buried at a house on Norfolk Street, Springs.

The Springs police opened an inquiry docket after a man alleged a baby’s remains were buried at a house along Norfolk Street in Springs Ext.

The man claims that between 2008 and 2009, his aunt had told him that his step-sister had given birth.

However, the baby died at home because of complications after being discharged from the hospital.

According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the man alleged his sister and parents placed the baby’s remains in a plastic bag and buried the body in the yard.

“He further alleged the family built a flat where the remains were buried,” said Tshabalala.

The police are investigating the allegations before they open a case.
