After winning numerous titles, Nikyla Moodley(16) is still determined to make a difference in someones life no matter how big or small her deed might be, even if it is one person at a time.
Bakerton resident Nikyla Moodley has once again proven that she’s more than just a pretty face and is a rising star in the modelling world after she was selected to walk on the national stage.
The Veritas College Grade 10 learner, who thrives to achieve excellent results, was crowned with prestigious national and international titles after competing at the Pageants SA competition in October.
She attained the Petite Miss Teen SA 2024 and Petite Miss Teen Universe SA 2024. Nikyla’s modelling coach Hanlie van Rooyen said in preparation for these titles Nikyla participated in community service.
“She also learned sign language to enhance her understanding and communication with children from the Ekurhuleni School for Deaf Children,” said Hanlie.

“She’s always willing to step up and assist others, whether its spending time with her furry friends at the SPCA, servicing the community or providing meals to the less fortunate. That’s where her passion lies,” Hanlie remarked.
Hanlie adds that when it comes to Nikyla’s academics, she knows that knowledge is power.
“Even though it’s not easy juggling being a learner, a model and maintaining social and family life with all the responsibilities that comes with each role, she never shies away from a challenge or an opportunity to make a difference.”

“I am extremely proud of her.”
The vibrant model firmly stands by her life motto: “Your journey is in your hands and the choices you make over the course of your life will shape your destiny in the future. The only impossible journey is the one you never begin,” Nikyla expressed.
