Struisbult Aftercare learners honoured for their exceptional work
Learners from Struisbult Aftercare receive certificates for their outstanding work.
Struisbult Aftercare recently hosted an award ceremony to honour its aftercare learners. At the ceremony, learners received certificates for attendance and for their improved performance in different aspects.
Sundra Ngwenya, principal of the aftercare, said the event was also to appreciate and congratulate the learners for the outstanding work they accomplished during the year.
She explained the centre’s purpose is to assist school learners with their academic challenges in mathematics, English, reading and phonics.
“Since the year started, the learners have improved mathematical concepts and critical thinking, problem-solving and reading skills, public speaking and being confident,” said Sundra.

“We have chess, word search, Scrabble, puzzles, maths challenges, spelling tests, building blocks, team building, prepared speech, summarising stories read from a novel, prayers and other activities.”
She said she started the aftercare as a way of giving back to the community and for the love she has for children.
“I thank God for guiding me through this journey and my family for encouraging me to act upon my dream.”
Sundra encourages parents with children from grades R to seven to enrol at the aftercare. She is searching for an assistant teacher and appeals to the community to donate reading books to the aftercare.
