Bert Collins Boxing Club shines at Gauteng Development Tournament

The club will be hosting a tournament this Saturday.

On Saturday, boxers from the Bert Collins Boxing Club attended the Gauteng Development Tournament at Transnet Boxing Academy in Koedoespoort.

Of the club’s six boxers present on the day, only four were matched.

Fifteen-year-old Tristen van Tonder dominated his opponent from the beginning of the first round and won on an ABD decision in round 1.

Jean-Louie van Biljon (16) was too strong for his opponent and he won on a RSC in round 1. Unfortunately, Eugene Scholtz (17) walked into a straight blow from his opponent and lost on a RSC in Round 1.

Blessing Taguma (21) outboxed his opponent on points over three rounds with a combination of blows. He won on a 3/0 points decision.

Coaches Minnet Kritzinger and Frans van der Linde are pleased with the performance of the boxers and will work on the mistakes they picked up on during the competition.

This Saturday, the club will be hosting a tournament at 12:00. For more information, contact Jeanette Dyzel on 069 207 9481.
