Cloverfield Road littered with rubbish as Modder East Disposal Site closure sparks frustration
Eastvale residents suffer the most from the illegal dumping on their doorstep.
Eastvale residents are frustrated with the illegal dumping on Cloverfield Road and believe the CoE is not doing its part to resolve the issue.
The illegal dumping started when the Modder East disposal site temporarily closed a few months ago. Since then, rubbish has been dumped all over, and the area is littered with beer bottles, plastic containers and discarded furniture.
Despite residents’ efforts to keep the area clean, the problem persists, attracting mice, ants and cockroaches. These pests then spread to their houses.
A 62-year-old resident living in the area for over four decades says she has never experienced anything like this, “I have reported this to the city several times, but it never did anything.”

Other residents say they see people dumping rubbish there daily without consequences. Illegal dumping is unpleasant and a serious health hazard to the public.
DA ward councillor Dean Stone said not renewing the contract for the site is problematic, “Nobody looks after this site at the moment, which causes problems for people who want to dump but are forced to dump illegally because no one has access to the dumping property.
“I understand the residents’ frustration, but it is not only them suffering because of this. There are also many currently sitting without employment. I believe the tender will soon be concluded and, hopefully, we will have someone looking after these sites,” Stone said.
The Advertiser contacted the city about the issue and whether the Modder East Disposal Site would reopen, but it failed to respond before publication.
