Springs SAPS warn residents against scam
With scams on the rise, Springs SAPS is calling on residents to remain vigilant.
The Springs SAPS is warning the public about a scam on social media by fraudsters pretending to be police officers.
The scammers send letters with the police logo to unsuspecting victims on WhatsApp.
“The fraudulent letters ask the victims to share their details as it falsely claims that there is a criminal case against the victim,” explains Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala.
The police are appealing to the public not to respond to communication from the scammers.
“The police do not communicate with the public via WhatsApp or video calls.”
