Couple tied up and looted during home invasion in Casseldale

The robbers fled in a white Corsa bakkie.

A couple was robbed in their home on April 4 in Casseldale. The husband was in his art room when he heard his dog barking.

“As he went to check on the dog, two men, who were already in his house, grabbed him and tied his hands with cable ties and threatened him,” says Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala.

The robbers ransacked the house while he was tied up.

“The wife was also tied up in a second bedroom.”

After a while the house was quiet, and the wife managed to free herself and helped her husband. They exited the house through the sliding door that had been opened for the dogs.

“They noticed the gate to the yard was forced open.”

They went to the neighbours for help and contacted the police. Items that were taken are two TVs, two cellphones, power tools, a toolbox and a knife collection.

The robbers allegedly loaded the items in a white Corsa bakkie. There were no injuries reported, and no arrests have been made. Police are asking the public to look out for any suspicious vehicles.
