Dancers from Dance Directions With Mariska excel at regionals in Randburg

All the dancers who competed qualified for nationals.

Dancers from Dance Directions with Mariska excelled at the Dance X competition, held at Curro Aurora in Randburg on May 24 and 25. This regional competition also served as a national qualifier.

Dancers who received gold qualified for nationals in October, but a higher level -‘gold X’- was also attainable and was earned by many. Each medal level includes a step-up category silver and silver X, and bronze and bronze X.

The results for the dancers who competed are:
• Trinity Mendoza – silver X for hip-hop, bronze X for contemporary and gold X for cheerleading group.

• Hope Bailey – gold X for open, gold X for hip-hop, silver X for contemporary and gold X for cheerleading group.

• Roland le Roux – gold for contemporary.

• Danja Singleton – silver X for Bollywood, silver X for hip-hop and gold X for cheerleading group.

• Anneke Lubbe – gold X for cheerleading group.

• Mariska Wolmarans, the teacher, got a gold X for a cheerleading group.

• Esmari Conradie – gold for Bollywood, gold for disco, gold for hip-hop, silver X for lyrical, silver X for contemporary, silver for open, bronze X for jazz and gold X for cheerleading group.

• Andri du Plessis – gold X for hip-hop, gold for disco and the trophy for top juvenile in the disco category.

• Mieke Weyers – gold for contemporary, gold X for open, gold X for Bollywood, gold X for hip-hop, gold X for disco, silver X for jazz, silver for jive, and trophies for disco junior overall winner, Bollywood junior overall winner and a special award for cheerleading group gold X.

• Nienke Pretorius – silver X for open, bronze X for Latin salsa and gold X for a cheerleading group.
