Springs Rugby Club invites young talent to join the team
The club welcomes U14 to U18 players of all backgrounds and skill levels.
Springs Rugby Club is calling on all aspiring rugby players, whether experienced or just starting out, to join their growing team.
“We are looking for anyone who wants to play rugby, develop their skills, or become a more evolved player with caring and fully committed coaches by their side,” said Desre Pienaar, secretary and administrator for the U14 to U18 teams.
The club welcomes players from all backgrounds, religions, traditions, and ethnicities.
“Any individual may join regardless of their current skill level. We firmly believe in developing every player’s skills, especially as not all have had the privilege of playing rugby in their communities. Our goal is to instil a love of the game,” she added.

Training for the U14 and U15 players takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 17:30 to 19:00 at the Springs Rugby Club fields, located at 69 1st Avenue, Geduld, opposite Olympia Park High School.
The U16 and U18 teams train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the same time and venue. Pienaar also appealed to local businesses and companies for sponsorship support.
“We need help with transport to games and possible team sponsors, as we provide lunches for many players who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.”
She expressed gratitude to the community for its ongoing support, which has contributed greatly to the club’s growth. Anyone interested in joining the team or assisting with sponsorship can contact Desre Pienaar on 083 659 2827 or Louis Kruger on 071 334 7124.
