Armed man arrested in Bakerton
The 26-year-old was arrested after police received a tip-off.
A 26-year-old man was arrested in Bakerton on July 20 after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the Vispol relief team, led by Lieutenant Thabo Maake, acted swiftly after receiving a tip-off about an armed suspect in the area.
“They rushed to the scene and, upon arrival, spotted a man matching the description. The suspect attempted to flee but was cornered and apprehended,” said Tshabalala.
He was taken to the police station for detention and is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
