Dance Directions ace choreography at provincials qualifier

Dancers from the Dance Directions dance studio competed in the Dance and Talent Management Association (DTMA) Gauteng provincial qualifier competition from July 4 to 6.

They needed 80% or more to qualify for the provincial championships taking place in August. The DTMA Awards took place at the Woodlands International College in Boksburg, and all the dancers competing qualified for provincials at this competition.

Their teacher, Mariska Wolmarans, is proud of her dancers. The group of dancers attained 90.7% for the cheerleading group item and 90.5% for the dark contemporary group item.

Individual dancers placed as follows:
• Danja Singleton: Second place in hip-hop;

• Nienke Pretorius: Third place in the open category;

• Roland le Roux: First in contemporary dance and a special award for the contemporary senior beginners;

• Trinity Mendoza: Second place in the open category, 84% for contemporary and 88% for hip-hop;

• Hope Bailey: First place for Bollywood, 87% for chacha, second for lyrical dance, first for contemporary, second for hip-hop, 82.5% for salsa along with Mieke Weyers, and a special award for open senior novice;

• Esmari Conradie: Second place for lyrical, first for contemporary, third for jazz, first for character, third for hip-hop, second for Bollywood, third for creative and 84.7% for disco;

• Mieke Weyers: 86.5% for jazz, first for character, second for hip-hop, third for contemporary and Bollywood, 82.5% for jive, second for disco, third for creative, 82.5% for salsa with Hope Bailey, and special awards for creative dance and character junior;

• Andri du Plessis: Second for disco and third for hip-hop;

• Anwiné Daniels: 82% for contemporary, first for disco and a special prize for disco beginner.
