Eight undocumented foreign nationals arrested across Ekurhuleni

All facing charges of contravention of the Immigration Act are expected to appear in the magistrates courts in the jurisdiction where they were apprehended soon.

The EMPD arrested eight undocumented foreign nationals across the City of Ekurhuleni between September 8 and 14.

The officers visited hotspot areas to curb the high number of undocumented foreign nationals. The suspects were arrested after questioning, during which they failed to provide officers with satisfactory reasons for not having their passports.

“The eight men were handcuffed and escorted to various police stations to be detained. Immigration services will conduct investigations on the identification documents of the suspects.

“They face charges of contravention of the Immigration Act.”
