SANBS calls on Springs residents to give blood

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is urging Springs residents to roll up their sleeves and donate blood at Strubenvale Pharmacy on September 27.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) calls on the Springs community to come out in numbers to donate blood.

The blood drive will be at Strubenvale Pharmacy on September 27. The blood drive will be held from 09:00 to 15:00 at the parking area.

The blood service is running a Heritage Month drive, which will run until next February. Ward councillor Charmaine Kock told the Springs Advertiser that the aim is to collect 50 pints of blood on the day.

She said donating blood is important because it saves lives, providing a vital resource for those needing transfusions for surgeries, accidents, cancer treatments, and other serious medical conditions.

“A single donation can save up to three lives, as different blood components can be used for different patients. There is no artificial substitute for human blood, and regular donations ensure a stable supply to meet constant patient need,” said Kock.

She also said that people will also enjoy a boerewors roll.
