R1.2m stolen goods recovered in Springs warehouse raid

Three men were arrested following a joint operation of Springs SAPS and Vampire Security, after investigations traced the location of hijacked goods to a Nuffield warehouse.

In a collaboration between the Springs SAPS and Vampire Security, officers discovered stolen processed food worth R1.2m at a warehouse in Nuffield on October 17.

According to the security company owner, a truck was hijacked last Monday as it was making its way to make a delivery to an export depot in Olifantsfontein.

Private investigators from Track Squad recovered the trailer on October 15 in Selcourt, next to the old Puleng and Sand Hardware. Vampire Security and other security companies met with the owner, whose goods were stolen.

“On Thursday night, we received information that the stock was in Springs, and also the registration number of the suspects’ vehicle.

“We came across the vehicle in the Nuffield North industrial area. We arrested and questioned the suspect, who revealed the location of the stock,” said the owner.

He added that upon arriving at the warehouse in the early hours of Friday, they found two additional suspects, who were also arrested by police.

Springs SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Charity Zwane, said they found 19 chest freezers and processed food valued at R1.2m. The three men were charged with possession of stolen property.
