SOB Cricket Club records big wins and thrilling performances over the weekend
The Springs Old Boys cricket club celebrated a thrilling weekend with their women’s team winning by 162 runs and men’s teams showcasing strong performances across multiple matches.
The weekend belonged to the Springs Old Boys Cricket Club (SOB), with the women’s and men’s teams showcasing their skills in a set of thrilling matches.
The SOB ladies played against Elsburg Cricket Club on October 25 at Elsburg and put on a great all-round performance with bat and ball.
The ladies achieved a commanding total of 195 runs.
The bat was led by Elizey Payne with 56 runs. Nadine Visser took 3/16 in five overs. Mickayla Croucamp matched that ferocity with 3/17.
“The hero of the game was Lin Mari Jordaan, who bowled a single over that changed the game. She took four wickets, including a hat-trick, and conceded no runs,” said the club.
Elsburg was bowled out for 33 runs, giving SOB a 162-run victory. SOB’s men’s first team battled valiantly but lost to Reiger Park at their home ground, Hoerskool Hugenote, by 18 runs.

The matches continued on Sunday (October 26) with the SOB Premium team facing the Elsburg Eagles at home.
SOB scored 268 runs, with Jonathan Diedericks scoring 85 runs.
In the bowling department, Rickus Neethling collected 5/28 in six overs. Jaco Potgieter claimed 4/35 runs from 10 overs to restrict Eagles to 180 runs.
SOB won by 88 runs.
In the Premier Reserve match against the same opponents, the Elsburg Eagles were restricted to 111 runs.
Dylan Samson steadied the chase with 40 not out, as Fergus Vermaak was the saviour with the ball, taking 4/41 runs in six overs.
SOB won by five wickets.
